Barcelona extend lead at the top of La Liga with dramatic win over Real Madrid

Barça move 12 points clear with 12 games to play after a dramatic victory sealed by Dembélé's late strike

Barcelona moved 12 points clear at the top of La Liga with a dramatic 4-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Ousmane Dembélé scored the winning goal in the 90th minute, after goals from Robert Lewandowski, Gavi and Pedri had put Barça in control.

The win was Barcelona's first at the Bernabéu since 2019, and it moved them 12 points clear of Real Madrid with just 12 games remaining.

Real Madrid had won the previous two El Clásicos, but they were no match for Barcelona on Sunday.

Barça dominated possession and created the better chances, and they took the lead in the 12th minute when Lewandowski headed home a cross from Dembélé.

Gavi made it 2-0 in the 35th minute, finishing off a fine move involving Lewandowski and Pedri.

Pedri added a third goal in the 69th minute, curling a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Dembélé then sealed the win in the 90th minute, racing onto a through ball from Lewandowski and slotting the ball past Thibaut Courtois.

The win was a huge boost for Barcelona's title hopes, and it will give them a lot of confidence ahead of their remaining fixtures.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their performance, and they will need to improve quickly if they want to challenge for the title this season.
