George Russell has taken a shock first Formula 1 pole position of his career at the Canadian Grand Prix, while championship leader Max Verstappen has qualified second for Red Bull. The Mercedes driver was quickest in all three segments of qualifying on a wet track in Montreal, with Verstappen unable to match his pace on either his final flying lap in Q3 or during the earlier part of the session. Carlos Sainz will join Verstappen on the second row of the grid, with Fernando Alonso fourth for Alpine. Lewis Hamilton ended qualifying eighth for Mercedes, while Sergio Perez crashed during Q2 bring out Red Flag. Full report to follow...
